by Shari L Tapscott

Published 10 December 2016

Previously released as Puss without Boots

Finding your happily ever after is complicated when your matchmaker is a cat...

Etta's happy with her simple life in the mill, but when her aunt passes and leaves her a very peculiar cat, everything goes awry. Now, determined to find her place in the world, Etta's learning to hunt, having audiences with a king, and falling for a man who's keeping something from her.

Beau's happy at sea until his father passes and leaves him with an odd last request. Now he's setting up shop in a small town, searching for ogres, and, inconveniently, falling for the miller's sister—who just happens to be taken with someone else.

It soon becomes clear that if Etta and Beau want to get anywhere, they'll need not only each other's help, but the cat's as well. But putting your trust in a feline is difficult, especially when you're not exactly sure what it is he has planned...

Book 2

The Queen of Gold and Straw

by Shari L Tapscott

Published 13 November 2018

Greta knows two things to be true. The first: trolls don't venture into the forest, especially during the day. The second: kings don't save peddlers' daughters from those trolls, and they certainly don't deposit them atop royal horses and personally escort them home.

But sometimes, they do. And sometimes afterward, life gets very complicated…

The Queen of Gold and Straw is a romantic fairy tale retelling full of humor, first love, new love, promises, lots of straw, and—of course—gold.

Author's note: This is a full-length novel that started as a short story originally published in the Once Upon a Happy Ending anthology. While I was writing the story, I knew there was so much more to tell. Some of the content remains the same, but most of it is brand-new, revised, rewritten, and reimagined.

Book 3

The Sorceress in Training

by Shari L Tapscott

Published 19 February 2019

Before Brynn took her first breath, her life's path was already chosen. Born into a family that values tradition, at twenty years of age, Brynn is expected to travel to the College on the Mount and spend the rest of her days immersed in books—learning science, architecture, and mathematics, devoting herself wholly to her studies, forbidden from indulging in frivolities such as literature or poetry. Or love.

A week after Brynn’s fated birthday, everything is going according to plan. But when Brynn's carriage busts an axle on the road to the college, one chance meeting with a mysterious sorcerer could change the course of her life forever. In order to escape duty—to claim her position as the sorcerer’s apprentice and avoid a life of solitude—Brynn must ask for help.

As a guard in Lord Calvin’s employ, Gavin knows his place. He’s sworn to protect Brynn and escort her to her new home. If the thought of abandoning her in the cold stone walls of the college ties a hard knot in his gut, it doesn't matter. And if he's in love with her? That doesn’t matter either.

Despite Gavin’s reservations, when Brynn begs the guard to see her safely to her new position in the sorcerer’s house, he’s helpless to resist. Now they’re running in the night, barreling toward an unknown future.

But soon the pair realizes they’ve made a grave mistake. Because Master Marcus is shrouded in dark secrets, and as his apprentice, Brynn is trapped right in the middle of them…
