Book 1
They’re only badass by accident...
Vola might be new to this whole adventuring thing, but she’s pretty sure this isn’t how you’re supposed to save the day. No one at her academy wanted an orc as a paladin, so they’ve sent her to the back end of a swamp, hoping she’ll never find a quest good enough to earn her shield. Well, screw that. Vola’s got divine help, and even a laughingstock of a goddess can do some righteous smiting.
Armed with a new mission to find some missing orphans, Vola just needs a team to help her track them down. Beggars can’t be choosers but couldn’t her goddess have sent her at least one competent fighter? Now she’s stuck with a hyperactive halfling, a klutzy spell caster, and a cloaked mystery who’s a little too good with their knives. Can a half-orc paladin keep her new party alive in a swamp that’s determined to eat them, or are all the naysayers right and Orcs really can’t be heroes?
Book 2
When the dead start to rise...don't call these guys.
Vola and her party have managed to bring down Lord Arthorel, their first big bad guy, but unfortunately they didn't get paid. That's what happens when you arrest your employer. They need some fast cash if they're going to be able to track down the slaver Lord Arthorel was selling his people to. But the adventuring scene in Brisbene is a lot more crowded than the swamp, and they're stuck with dead end jobs going nowhere. Picking flowers and exterminating rodents isn't paying the bills.
When they manage to snag a choice assignment to find a missing adventurer, things start looking up. That is until some of Sorrel's old friends show up to try and steal their contract. And it turns out their missing person might be in the hands of a necromancer. Now the dead are rising, their competition is annoying, and it's this whole thing. Well at least fighting rude monks and rotten zombies is way better than picking flowers...
Book 3
Storming the castle doesn't count when it's your own castle...
Now that they have an employer, one who is a princess no less, Mishap's Heroes can look forward to a nice steady gig smack in the middle of the most civilized city in Southglen. No more running around, scrambling after petty villains. Or so they thought. Vola and the others barely make it to the city before they learn there's treason afoot and as the Dagger Throne's new problem solvers, Mishap's Heroes had better come up with a plan quick before enemies of the Throne take a bite out of the princess's power.
Unfortunately it's not just traitors they have to worry about. This is Lillie's hometown and now Vola's going to find out first hand who's been hunting their wizard. And why.
Book 4
Who said you can never go home again?
Vola screwed up. Big time. Thanks to her mistakes during the coup, she's been stripped of her shield and labeled a black paladin, an oathbreaker. But who is she without her shield? Does she even know? Cut off from her goddess, Vola tries to distance herself from Sorrel, Lillie, and Talon, to protect them from her mistake one last time. But the only place she can think to retreat to is the last place she ever wanted to go. Home.
Now she's got to find a job in her hometown with her loving and highly supportive parents breathing down her neck, while her party tracks her down and refuses to accept her resignation. The only thing that could make it all better is a chance to bag the bad guy who was responsible for her mistake during the coup. And that's just the opportunity that comes waltzing into her parents' cottage. But Vola's not a paladin anymore. Is she still worth anything without her goddess to back her up?
Book 5
It just had to be dragons this time...
Vola, Talon, and the others may have gotten rid of Inga, but there's an even bigger bad guy out there stealing magic out of the land and its people. Luckily the Dagger Princess has a lead, and now the team's headed to Firewatch, home of the great slumbering dragons. Just like the one that killed Talon's pack so long ago. Talon might not be interested in revenge but she's determined to keep her new family from meeting the same fate as her old one.
However, that's going to be harder than usual. Someone is draining the magic out of the land itself, leaving dead spots in the desert. Maybe a big bad someone. Can Vola, Talon, and the others track down the magic thief before whoever it is wakes the dragons? Failure is not an option when cranky fire-breathers can cause the end of the world...
Book 6
It's time to finish the fight...
Vola, Sorrel, Lillie, and Talon know their enemy now. And it's time to take the fight to Anders. But they're going to need some help if they're going to keep him from sucking all the magic out of the world. This is a war for everyone. But why would anyone work together when they can fight among themselves? Vola has her work cut out for her to keep the peace between all their allies when no one wants to listen to a black paladin.
And the worst culprits are the gods. Anders has already proved he can drain the Virtues themselves but none of them are willing to give up their own autonomy to meet the threat. Vola is convinced a unified and healthy pantheon is the key to beating Anders, but even the Broken doubts it's possible. And how do you fix a broken goddess?
