The purpose of this book is to provide an up to date and comprehensive handbook to all the world's breeds of horses. Each of the world's 160 breeds of horses is described and illustrated. The information provided will cover the physical characteristics of each breed: its height, conformation, description of head, limbs, feet and any special features, action, colouring and temperament. It will also cover the breeding background and how the development of each breed has been influenced by its local environment and the need to fulfill local requirements. The purpose of each breed will also be described, its use for pleasure, transport, sport, work, racing or draft. Its breeding popularity and world wide distribution will also be covered.
