My Life with George

by Judith Summers

Published 1 January 2007
Having lost both her husband and her father to cancer within the space of two weeks, Judith Summers suddenly found herself in the depths of depression and grief. Life for her and her nine-year-old son Joshua felt like it was never going to be normal again. But then Judith met George, and she was immediately smitten. George, a gorgeous Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, bounded into their little family’s household bringing much-needed joy with him. Yet, as Judith soon discovered, living with a George had its drawbacks: he was as time-consuming as a full-time job and as expensive to run as a Ferrari. Willful, stubborn and badly-behaved, he refused to eat anything other than organic roast chicken, and became as jealous as a spurned lover if any man dared show an interest in Judith. And then when a near-death experience with a Staffordshire Bull Terrier resulted in very pricey sessions with an animal psychologist, Judith found herself on the therapist’s couch. MY LIFE WITH GEORGE is the delightful account of the impossible but adorable George, of his adventures and misdemeanors, and of the wonderful way in which he filled a huge void in Judith and Joshua’s lives whilst driving them absolutely barking mad along the way.
