Overview of the subject includes, what a desert is; where deserts are found; what kind of desert there are; what animals and plants live there and how they have adapted to suit the extreme conditions; how people survive in the desert; what resources can be found there, and much more. Each spread is headed with a question which is answered in the main text. Each spread has a fact box, which highlights key concepts relating the main theme. Full colour illustrations and photographs bring the subject to life. This work also contains an 'Amazing Facts' section; a glossary to explain new words used in the main text; an index, and questions and answers that refer the reader back to the text. It fits into National curriculum (KS2 5)'Living things in their environment', also fits in with the QCA scheme of work for science. It helps achieve the goals of the Scottish Standard Curriculum 5-14.
