The understanding and interpretation of history is rooted in old documents. This book aims to stimulate work in schools by introducing teachers to archives which are accessible locally and which have broad scope for methods of working at many different levels. Each section includes facsimiles of documents and notes on their arrival and historical context. The book suggests areas of study, activities and ideas to help introduce the use of documents into a wide range of curriculum studies.
