This series introduces the general reader to various figures in Native American history from the 17th to the 20th century. The volumes explore the lives and accomplishments of a range of native people who overcame obstacles to become notable in their chosen fields of endeavour, including the arts and literature, politics, religion and medicine. This particular volume describes the lives and works of artists and artisans - eight women and nine men - whose styles range from traditional to modern. A chapter is included on pictograph artists.
