The Celtic-speaking Britons who inhabited England, Wales and part of Scotland in the five hundred years before the birth of Christ left no written history. However, archaeology has revealed some of their artistic achievements and every year more objects are unearthed. Jewellery, weapons, armour and the metal fittings of chariots and harness are magnificently decorated with fascinating and powerful abstract designs.
