The purpose of this book is to help teachers arouse in children a desire to read and keep the reading habit going. Its aim is to maintain a dynamic approach to reading through activities that are lively and varied. These activities are divided into three main sections - 1) getting the children reading; 2) keeping them reading; and 3) facilitating a positive and motivating response to their reading. Written with the requirements of all national curricula in mind, these activities will enable teachers to meet curriculum and individual needs. Where appropriate, advice on modifying for differentiation and special needs is given - although many of the activities enable differentiation by response.
