When ageing actor Stephen Wade performs drunk on stage, he is sacked by the theatre director, Michael Reeves. That night, Reeves is murdered and the finger points to Wade. Only Jack Dwyer, cast member and amateur detective, believes Wade is innocent, so sets out to find the real killer.
