Nigel Cooke

by Suhail Malik and Darian Leader

Published 25 April 2006
This work includes essays by Suhail Malik and Darian Leader and an interview with the artist by Ingvild and Stephan Goetz. Nigel Cooke's paintings incorporate elements of reality and fantasy, utilizing the recurring setting of the wall at ground level. His work oscillates between layers of meaning and representation, leaving the viewer unsure of whether these are realistic paintings of images or surrealistic compositions in their own right. The accompanying exhibitions are at Stuart Shaver / Modern Art, London and Andrea Rosen Gallery, New York.
