This volume includes a previously unpublished Morris painting "Beata Domina", close-up details of textiles and stained glass, and works by Madox Brown and D.G. Rossetti. The Morris painting and other items are reproduced for the first time. Most of the pictures were taken specially for this book. The text should appeal to the general reader, as well as students - suitable for the new National Curriculum in art and history (art at all Key Stages and history at Key Stage 2). It includes five close-up details of plant patterns in textiles (describing Morris's use of vegetable dyes) Other new information includes a Morris letter and his bill for Burne-Jones' Star of Bethlehem tapestry. The text pages have decorative Morris borders. The gazetteer lists 40 places to visit from Stroud to Windsor including Kelmscott Manor, Oxford colleges and museums and places in the Cotswolds and Chilterns, with directions of how to get there, phone numbers for access to locked churches, and details of places to eat and stay.
The colour illustrations are also available in two postcoard books with 8 cards each, which students can order to illustrate their projects - "A William Morris Postcard Book" and "A Burne-Jones Postcard Book". The postcards may also be purchased individually from Heritage Press.
