A wicked power awakens inside Mendi Mountain, and teen siblings Miri and Nick must save the city from destruction, working with new and unlikely allies as they race to quell an ancient, unrelenting force.
To Nick, only two things matter: council meetings, and protecting his sister’s identity. If the Council knew Miri existed, they’d imprison the second-born child of the rulers they dethroned. He’s kept the secret so far, but when an assassination attempt forces Nick into action, he puts his life, and hopes to acquit his sister in danger.
Miri’s on the run and lives in endless fear of being recognized. Her magic is untrustworthy, so protecting herself is both challenging and hazardous. When her mother reveals the grim truth about Miri’s past, she fights to understand her place in Olexia.
