The Secrets of Sculpture

by Louisa Somerville

Published 24 October 1994
This is one of a series in which each book contains flaps and fold-outs, and is accompanied by a sheet of reusable stickers. Focusing on sculpture throughout the ages and the world, from carvings in stone, horn, archaic Greek art and African statuettes, to the new techniques of the modern sculptor, this book covers the materials used and takes a look at the workshops of some of the great sculptors such as Rodin and Michelangelo. The accompanying stickers are in colours found in the Greek temples and the statues of the Middle Ages, and readers can feel a feather as used in an Eskimo mask and fold out a full-size sculpture by Giacometti.
