Fragments from Antiquity

by John Barrett

Published 14 October 1993
This is an account of society in Britain over almost two millennia, beginning in the late Neolithic and taking the story well into the Bronze Age. Material remains and evidence from the period are numerous and substantial, including, for example, Stonehenge and Avebury. The book is not only an interpretation and reconstruction of the social dynamics and evolution of the period, it also puts forward and exemplifies an approach to prehistoric society based on advances in social and geographical theory. It represents the culmination of ten year's work.
