Poetry KS1

Published 15 January 1999
This text provides a range of structured and progressive activities which focus on the part that poetry plays in the English programme of study for Key Stage 1 and Scottish A-B. The book aims to develop children as readers, writers and performers of poetry. Although the book does not attempt to prescribe an order in which the activities can be taught, they do become progressively more demanding within each section. It includes sections on reading and shared poetry, writing poetry, using a pattern and playing with forms. The use of IT is highlighted throughout and many poems are provided as photocopiables. Also included is built-in differentiation, activities for assessment and photocopiable worksheets.
