Harry is a zealous traffic warden, whose eccentric hobbies of collecting stuffed birds and folk dancing cause great friction between him and his wife. Bad-tempered Gran's constant criticism of Harry does not improve matters. Also Harry's daughter, Ruby, is engaged to weedy Gerald who finds he has an allergy to the birds.
