This work is divided into three sections, Greek Philosophy, Philosophy of the Middle Ages and Modern Philosophy. The lectures are based on Hegel's nine tenures lecturing on the history of philosophy: 1805-6 in Jena, 1816-7 and 1817-8 in Heidelberg, and 1819-30 in Berlin.
