A subset of forensic science, forensic toxicology, is literally, the use of toxicology methods and practices, in the courts of law. This is generally understood to mean the analysis of alcohol, drugs and poisons in body fluids, and the interpretation of these analytical results for the benefit of the courts. A considerable overlap exists between the fields of forensic toxicology and, clinical toxicology, criminalistics, forensic psychology, environmental toxicology, forensic pathology and pharmacology.
