Book 62

This is a practical guide for those involved in the daily care, education and development of people with learning disabilities and additional behavioural or emotional disturbances. The approach described is based on the authors' extensive experience of training a wide range of health professionals in the assessment of problematic behaviour and the development of appropriate intervention strategies. The book starts with a detailed assessment aimed at identifying the nature of the problem and factors within the environment and within the individual which may be contributing to it. The assessment seeks to clarify the needs which must be addressed, and a range of interventions are described which can be developed on an individual basis to help meet those needs.
