Out of the Shadow

Victorian Flashbacks is another mini-series of four themed books building on the popularity of the established Flashbacks series, this time about the Victorian age. These books tie in with the National Curriculum at Key Stage. 2001 is the centenary of Queen Victoria's death. These books take the reader back in time and vividly depict a young person's world: the experiences they had and emotions they felt, against a period backdrop of historical change or interest. Despite the centuries that separate them, the lives of these children have much in common with today's adolescents: peer-group pressure, hero worship, strong loyalties and occasional hot-headedness all come into play. Victorian Flashbacks are fast-paced, gritty and action-packed: they should keep even the most reluctant reader engaged. The stories relate important historical details and events that otherwise might be taught only as dry facts in the History classroom.
