In a world where some have supernatural abilities, and most don’t, the King has bound those with magick by blood and fire to do his bidding. The King sends his captives in search of an evil orb, forged by a demi-god, that gives its bearer immense power and the ability to control all others.
Only two people stand in the way: Jelani, a wraith with the final piece of the orb, seeking to return to the land of the living and claim its power for himself; and Seanna, a Darktide Defender in the King’s service, who wishes to complete her dead father’s quest to destroy the orb and ensure freedom for all the citizens of Merkan.
Jelani is closing in on the King, as the King forces Seanna to go down a dark path. Seanna is forced to run from her fellow Defenders. Can she run fast enough to stay alive, let alone save the world?
