This selection, from the poetry of Thomas Gray, Charles Churchill and William Cowper, brings together a representative sample of mid-18th century meditative, loco-descriptive and satirical verse. The selection is the first of several titles to feature three poets in one volume. Other volumes will contain groupings of Tudor, Elizabethan, Jacobean, Cavalier, Romantic, Regency, Victorian and Edwardian poets. In each case the intention is to bring together poets whose individual oeuvre is minor, but significant enough to warrant combination in this form.
