This is a survey of Gothic art in Europe which examines the art of the 13th and 14th centuries. Considering the meaning of the term "Gothic", it views painting, sculpture, architecture, manuscript illumination and applied arts in various contexts, including public and private art, devotional and secular art, and art related to the new forms of learning (science and the universities).
