This is the second volume on the fossil ungulates of the Pliocene and Pleistocene sediments associated with the hominids of the Koobi Fora region of northern Kenya. It describes the fossil hippopotamuses, camels, giraffes, and antelopes that have been recovered from the Koobi Fora Formation. An introductory chapter summarizes recent geological investigations of the region with particular reference to the stratigraphy and palaeogeography. The final chapter evaluates
the changing palaeoenvironmental conditions, drawing upon all currently available geological and fossil evidence. A series of reference tables provides detailed measurements and stratigraphic provenance of the described fossils.
