v. 1

Arthur of Wales

by Steve Blake and Scott Lloyd

Published 1 October 2003
This volume is the first in a series dedicated to the Welsh Arthurian Tradition. The Welsh literary tradition and Medieval Welsh texts contain a wealth of references to Arthur, the fearless chieftain and guardian of the Celtic people, but never before have all of these sources been collected into one volume, until now. The book will gather all of the earliest source materials written before 1300 complete with translations, notes and appendices. Each source will be dealt with individually, with an introduction, an edition of the text in its original language including variants from different MSS, an English translation, notes on major points raised by the text and parallels with other sources with special attention to the topographical and place-name evidence and an up to date bibliography of academic editions and discussions of the text. All of the sources will be indexed bringing this whole corpus of material together in one comprehensive and up-to-date volume.
