In an album first published by OPC 20 years ago, these photographs were taken in the BR period and cover the lines of the former Southern Railway, as well as featuring a wide variety of ex-SR locomotives at work. The locations include Basingstoke, Bournemouth, Eastleigh, Hayling Island, Salisbury, Southampton, Swanage, and many more.
In the 1920s and 1930s the Southern Railway was one of the pioneers of electrification, inevitably steam locomotion was thrown onto the defensive. This volume focuses on steam at work in Devon, Cornwall, Wiltshire and Somerset.'
Terry Gough spent the decade 1956-66 photographing steam's last fling on the Southern Region of BR, and here presents a selection of views taken in Surrey and Berkshire. This was first published by OPC in 1988.
