Owing to the progress made during the past 15 years of solar power research and development, solar energy is now considered to be one of the most promising renewable and clean sources of energy for the future. The proceedings of a seminar, called to reflect the importance of solar power generation in the future, are presented here. Current technological progress is reported as well as the economics, applications and competitiveness of small and large size solar electricity systems.
