Deep down in the oceans readers will find strange, monstrous creatures such as a hatchet fish (its wafer-thin, silvery body is like a mirror, which reflects a double image of itself and makes it difficult for predators to know where it is) or a bearded angler (its trailing beard lights up, luring tiny sea creatures into its glowing tangled filaments).
