Systems engineering and integration is the critical issue in the design, procurement and maintenance of all large scale complex engineering systems such as future air traffic control systems, civil aricraft, utility networks, autonomous vehicles, etc. This book addresses a methodology for the intelligent integration of the various disparate technologies used in such systems, that demonstrate desired quality features such as robustness, modularity, extensibility, interoperability, etc. The methodology is based on the integration of techniques from object technology and open systems together with systems architecture and reference models for ensuring adherence.
