The basic rules of good page layout have not changed with the advent of the Web. The difference is in the extent of what can be achieved and how it is achieved. The book opens with a reminder of design's first principles, explaining how these apply in the digital age, and a discussion of the new tools that designers have to learn to use, such as HTML code, cascading style sheets, Web authoring software, Net objects and so on.
