A study of planning in the UK, exploring agendas for the 21st century. The main body of the text addresses the key planning policy issues that have arisen during the New Labour government's first term of office. Four major areas are identified: the new institutional context; ensuring social inclusion and participation; promoting sustainability; and the debate over building at higher densities on brown field sites, an issue which encompasses both social and environmental concerns.
