This book identifies the key drivers of the EU's external relations policy towards the Arab states in the Mediterranean region, and assesses the EU's scope to implement a coherent and coordinated policy towards the Arab states in what is a highly disparate political and economic region. The author evaluates whether the EU can create an enduring partnership with the Arab states and determines whether EuroMed can serve as a crucible for EU politico-economic engagement with the Islamic world.
This study critically analyses the elusive concept of Europeanization as a decision-making process with particular governing logics that both support and, paradoxically undermine the 'European political project'. Serving as a valuable reference for academic and graduate audiences in political science, international and European studies; this book offers an incisive empirically grounded appraisal of the unseen policy dynamics at work in the European Union of the 21st century.
