This volume presents proceedings of the bi-annual ECASIA meeting which took place in Goteborg in June 1997. The conference represents the opportunity for users, theoreticians and suppliers of surface analytical equipment to exchange information about the application of different techniques to the solution of surface and interface related problems. The papers represent a broad coverage of developments in the field of surface analysis and provide a reference source for newcomers to the field and experienced users of the techniques.
