This training package is designed to provide practical ideas and methods to social work managers and professionals which will allow them to improve and rationalize their practice and performance. The authors feel that social workers have much to gain from routine evaluation of a kind which allows them to reflect critically on their practice and identify the ways their agencies impact the lives and statuses of clients. The training package covers a broad range of methods and styles of evaluation, adaptable to the specific needs of local agenices, client groups and organizational context. The aim is to encourage all workers to see ongoing evaluation as an integral and indispensible element in professional practice. The manual includes case studies, exercises and practical material for use as hand-outs and OHPs. The practical material has been tried and tested with local authoity voluntary organizations in the UK and abroad.
