Counting Thousands

Looking at place values and decimals, this is part of a series which aims to help primary school teachers assess children's understanding of key concepts, and their ability to use and apply maths. The different activities each come with key questions to ask, responses to look for and how to further support or extend the children's work. The activities in this book cover: consolidating and extending knowledge of the number system to thousands; using decimal notation to two decimal places; and using negative numbers in context. The book comes with a colour, A4, wipe-clean "postermat". Designs include game boards, picture stimuli and classroom maths resources. Diagnostic and "double check" assessment activites, reinforcement activities, and enrichment activities are included. The aim of this is to support formative and summative assessment, develop understanding and confidence, and consolidate and extend learning. This series is broadly linked to the National Curriculum levels, and the relevance to Scottish Guidelines and NI Curriculum for Maths is included.
