Book 1
When eleventh-grader Eimi Yamashita finds out that her parents are relocating for work, she decides to move into a dormitory for girls. Her fellow residents plan an initiation for Eimi that has her sneaking into the boys' dormitory across the street and bringing back a keepsake.
Book 2
The second term in her new home finds Eimi feeling homesick. Not even her friends or food can make her feel better, but Wanibuchi takes her mind off it by giving her flowers and telling her about his past.
Book 3
Eimi is so wrapped up in her admiration of Wanibuchi that she doesn't notice that Shimonuki is seriously into her. Shimonuki decides that he needs to get close to the competition to get to her, but, ironically, finds himself getting caught up in Wanibuchi too.
Book 4
Winter is cold for the girls, as the boys dorm hogs the electricity to heat their rooms. Shimonuki continues trying to win Eimi's heart and gets her to agree to a date, but she still has feelings for Wanibuchi, who may be moving back to Mexico.
Book 5
Eimi is going home for the holidays to her parents' new house. Shimonuki's supposed to go with her, but a family emergency porevents that. To avoid riding the train alone, Eimi drags Wanibuchi along. As they travel the country and through Wanibuchi's past, will they grow closer together or farther apart?
