This title offers a guide for clients and contractors for the air tightness testing of buildings. It is based on experience acquired by BSRIA of pressure-testing over 1000 buildings since the 1980s and presents all a contractor or client needs to know about the air tightness criteria. The guide explains some of the pitfalls to avoid during design and construction and notes the Building Regulations for April 2002, which demand that all new buildings in England and Wales with a gross floor area above 1000m2 are constructed and tested to an air tightness standard. It expains how to comply with Building Regulations, supplies recommended air tightness criteria for a range of buildings and building components and explains the application of thermography to help reduce heat losses. In addition it supplies a checklist for typical air leakage paths.
