Development

by Richard Brown and Ann Ellis

Published 31 January 1991
This is one of a series of four books aimed at pupils in lower secondary schools. Each volume contains three modules with a common theme, and each module consists of resource items, activity items and an assignment item. The activity items engage pupils in exercises to develop particular ideas and include research, mapwork, fieldwork and role-play. The resource items are intended to promote discussion and may be used in association with the activity items. Through the activities and the focus on the learning process, pupils are introduced to key issues in geography. The four books deal individually with important geographical themes - community, environment, movement and development - and can be used in geography or humanities courses. One teacher's guide accompanies the pupils' books and provides guidance on the approach adopted, procedures for using the pupils' books and photocopiable statements of achievement.
