This text is a resource for teachers implementing and assessing the National Curriculum. The bank of photocopiable material helps teachers of Key Stage 3 Science assess students' levels of attainment in Science 1-4. It should stimulate students' interest in the subject and provide useful assessment for teachers. The resource contains: an introduction to the purpose and nature of assessment, and its place within the National Curriculum; an analysis of the whole science National Curriculum to produce "outcome statements" which are then used as assessment objectives; a bank of photocopiable activities and investigations set in particular contexts; succinct teachers' notes giving details of how the activities can be used formatively and the investigations assessed summatively to give students' level 4 attainment in Science 1; and a bank of photocopiable questions on Science 2-4, along with answers and marking scheme enabling teachers to determine which tier students should be entered for in their end-of-Key Stage tests.
