Toxic Waste Management in the Chemical and Petrochemical Industries

The chemical and petrochemical industries give rise to some of the most serious waste management problems. Delegates from 15 countries came to the conference to exchange experience of the available technologies and management strategies for the identification, assessment and control of toxics in the chemical and petrochemical industries. The topics covered include regulatory and legal considerations, methodologies for toxicity characterisation and assessment, waste minimisation processes (including source reduction), innovative techniques for wastewater treatment, and residuals management; several case studies are described.
