This is a primer that teaches the DOS operating system in a friendly, slow-paced manner. It features an abundance of illustrations and examples so that novice computer users can learn the basic of DOS quickly and painlessly. The book is organized so that readers can rapidly locate desired topics and instructions. Like all "Simply" series books, this one features the special lay-flat binding. The book opens with an easy introduction to the computer system (hardware and software), and starting a computer. The next chapters describe initial DOS commands, DOS directories and file organization, and preparing a disk for DOS. Subsequent chapters cover file manipulation commands, accessing files from directories, using time-saving DOS batch files, as well as working with groups of files. The last chapters explain how to customize a computer system and use DOS to print.
