This book explores some of the contexts within which learning occurs and the social and cultural dynamics that influence learning and teaching. It aims to create an awareness of the importance of context in adult learning and to encourage adult educators to be reflective of their practice, to understand how social and cultural contexts influence classroom dynamics, and to take critical action to ameliorate hegemonic practices in adult education. This is the 96th issue of the Jossey-Bass series "New Directions for Adult and Continuing Education."
