Book 1
A magical tale with a mystical twist, set partly in India and partly in England, this is a fascinating story of love and reincarnation. Fearing persecution in their native west India, two couples, Jay and Lata and Ashok and Manjiri, leave their homeland for new opportunities in England. Both couples find prosperity and security in north London, clinging to their old traditions but adapting to their new way of life. Through a chance encounter the two couples meet and so do their children, Meena and Ramesh. For the teenagers, it isn't exactly love at first sight, but there is an instant recognition, almost as if they had known each other in a previous life. Time passes and the two fall in love and marry, in accordance with their Hindu faith. Unlike their parents, who had arranged marriages this is a love match - with everyone's approval. But will Meena, a modern career woman, born and educated in England settle down to life as a traditional Indian wife? "Eighth Step for Meena" is the beginning of our heroine's moving and unpredictable journey, the first in a trilogy.

Myth and legend, fact and fiction meld in this novel set against the backdrop of the Chitpaavan Brahmin emigration from western India to the UK and the USA. Following on from 'Eighth Step for Meena', Meena, a second-generation immigrant living in London, escapes a disastrous marriage and forges a career for herself in pharmacy.
