The Sierra Club natural traveler
1 total work
This illustrated guide to the wild places of Spain, including the Balearic and the Canary Islands, aims to introduce travellers and naturalists to the more remote regions of these areas such as mountain trails, lakes, caverns, woods and desolate sea coasts. As part of "The wild series", these handbooks provide practical information for those wishing to seek out these places as well as reading for the armchair traveller. The guides contain details on where to go, how to get there, where to stay, the facilities available and recommended reading lists. There are also suggestions of places to see within a day's journey and ratings according to the difficulty of the terrain as well as information on specialist subjects. The author has lived in Majorca since 1961 and has travelled all over Spain. He writes here of the mountains and deserts, the Mediterranean coasts and the valleys of Galicia, describing the diversity of its wildlife - from eagles to flamingoes and chamois to wild cats and wolves.
