This book describes short movement breaks that can be used between other classroom activities to channel energy and maintain a positive learning environment for all students. The book begins with activities for developing motor skills and alphabet recognition and moves through progressively more complex skills. Contents include stretching and relaxing movements, shaking and awaking movements, pantomime and imagination movements and more complex movement games, including improvisation, rhythm and clapping, balancing and team relays. All activities are marked according to appropriate age levels, length of playtime and group size. No activity requires special skills and there are enough for every day of the school year.
