Book 10

In the second half of World War II, the German Army were facing numerically superior armoured forces on both Eastern and Western Fronts. Their solution was to increase their tank destroyer production to cope with this threat. One of their principal tank destroyers from 1944 onwards was the Jagdpanzer 38t, or 'Hetzer,' of which 2,627 were built in the last 14 months of the war. This title covers all the information that the AFV modeller will need to build any of the variants of the Jagdpanzer 38t 'Hetzer,' including the Bergepanzer recovery vehicle. It also covers all the camouflage, paint schemes and markings that were used on this vehicle.

Book 19

The Rheinmetall heavy Infanteriegeschutz 33 was the most powerful German support weapon at the beginning of World War II, and in January 1940, the first attempts were made to transform it to a tracked vehicle. An improved version, based on the Panzer II chassis, served in Rommel's Afrika Korps, and further alterations were made during the battle for Stalingrad in 1942. The Grille Ausf. H, the adaptation of the sIG 33 on the Czech Panzer 38(t) chassis, served from 1943 onwards with the schwere Infanteriegeschutz companies of Panzergrenadier regiments. This book covers a wide range of modelling projects based around this ubiquitous vehicle type.

Modelling the Sturmgeschütz III

by Gary Edmundson

Published 10 September 2006
The Sturmgeschatz III proved to be one of the more significant German AFVs of World War II. Originally designed in the late 1930s as self-propelled infantry support gun, its role became more diverse throughout the war, and it served as a tank hunter and in front-line Panzer companies. The book details the construction of four models in 1/35 scale and includes a gallery feature covering all variants of the StuG III. Aftermarket products are added to the basic kits to produce accurate replicas. Reference is fairly extensive on this particular vehicle and is clearly presented as each correction to the kits is explained. Kits of all scales are included in the 'Kits available' listing in the book.

Book 29

Introduced to the British Army in 1983, the Challenger Main Battle Tanks have served operationally in the Balkans and both Gulf Wars. Their firepower, protection and shock action have been instrumental to the success of British forces. In addition to the familiar gun tanks, the Challenger family encompasses the Rhino Armoured Repair & Recover Vehicle (ARRV) and the new Trojan Armoured Engineer Vehicle (AEV). As the tank is well represented by major kit manufactures in both 1/72 and 1/35 scales, this book covers a wide range of the Challenger family. Each chapter presents the model using colour photos to illustrate scratch-building, painting and weathering techniques.

Book 30

The PzKpfw V Panther is considered to be one of the finest tanks of World War II due to its combination of mobility, firepower and armour. Developed as a response to the Soviet deployment of heavy armour on the Eastern Front, and later to serve in Normandy and Northwest Europe, the Panther established its reputation as one of the first truly universal tanks and its influence can be seen in the design of modern battle tanks to this day. This book details how to model the main variants of this fascinating and significant World War II tank, and it provides a listing the main kits and aftermarket sets available.

Modelling the M113 Series

by Graeme Davidson
