As the turn of the century approaches, people will be casting their minds back over the past 100 years. This work aims to get young people thinking about how the events of the past century have affected the people in their family and community. It should encourage them to write up a family or community history and collect various artefacts which give the human perspective to the big events, e.g. stamps, coins, and perhaps a lock of hair containing DNA. This illustrated account of the last 100 years, including chapters on building, transport, food, occupations, inventions and achievements is a chronology of the 20th century and contains a separate timeline for each subject covered.
