This series includes books on general, political, historical, economic, social and cultural themes relating to Russia and East Europe written or edited by members of the School of Slavonic and East European Studies in the University of London, or by authors working in association with the School. The contents of this book are the result of the fourth meeting of the British Universities Siberian Studies Seminar held at the University of London in April 1986. The contents cover various aspects of Siberia's history in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries together with an examination of the past and present situation of the non-Russian ethnic minority peoples of Siberia, plus the social and economic problems of the territory's contemporary development.
