Each book covers one specific writing type and aims to improve teacher confidence and knowledge about shared and guided writing, plus give them the teaching resource they need to improve practice. This title offers clarity of teacher support and self-contained package with lesson plans plus photocopiable resources. The activities in "Scary Stories" (7-9 yrs) enable children to: explore what makes a plot scary; write scary settings; develop understanding of scary writing; understand how suspense and surprise can be used to structure stories; and, build scary atmospheres, choosing and using appropriate adjectives.

The activities in "Explanations (9-11 yrs)" enable children to: identify the characteristic features of explanation texts; make texts clear and interesting by sequencing the text; use causal and temporal connectives; and, use diagrams and technical terminology.
